Information Security Liaisons (ISLs) serve as points of contact between academic and administrative units and Info Sec for all matters relating to information security.  An ISL coordinates with Info Sec to implement the University’s information security policies, procedures and awareness efforts in the unit.  Specifically, this role is intended to: 

• Promote security awareness and good security practices
• When possible, attend information security awareness and training presentations, seminars, workshops and events
• Disseminate information within the unit to raise awareness about information security issues
• Participate in and support establishment of incident response processes, including incident reporting
• Receive security vulnerability reports for the unit’s information systems and disseminate such information to appropriate technical staff for resolution
• Coordinate inventories of sensitive or critical information and information systems
• Coordinate risk assessments
• Coordinate business continuity planning
• Assist in implementing corrective action resulting from examination or investigation of an incident report
• Identify and register critical devices
• Document unit security standards and plans
