Installation and Configuration of Cornell Spider for Windows

If neither Spider nor the UA-specific configuration was installed by IT staff, download, install and configure Spider

• Double click here. The following screen will appear.

• Click the Save button.  The Spider files are saved on your desktop or to a location you specify.  
• Click the Run button on the Verifying cornspider.exe screen.  
• The following screen will appear:

• Click the Run button to continue the installation. 
• Follow the onscreen instructions.  In the final window, click Close or Finish.  Spider is now installed on your computer.
• If you experience difficulty installing cornspider.exe on Windows XP or earlier, or receive an error message that the .NET framework is not installed on your computer, you will need to install .NET 2.0 or later before installing Spider:
  • Go to http://www.update.microsoft.com.
  • Click Custom.
  • The update site will analyze your system. When the list of software appears, in the left-hand column, click Software, Optional.
  • Check to see if Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 is in the list. If it is, select it, and click Review and Install Updates.
  • Click Install Updates.
  • When the download and installation is complete, restart your computer.
  • Repeat the instructions for installing Spider.
• If you're still experiencing difficulty in installing cornspider.exe:
  • Install the Spider3 MSI file (from Cornell web site), and 
  • Follow the instructions in Step 4 to install the configuration file.
